The name of my business Sunanda explains my philosophy of life and work. It means best happiness in Sanskrit. When I’m working with a client, I’m happy to design and execute their wishes. They are happy to see their idea and fabric come to life. If I’m doing an alteration, the client is happy to see an existing garment of theirs fit beautifully to their body type.

I have been sewing professionally for 35 years, 28 years of which I’ve had my own business, Sunanda. I’m a couturier, which means the inside of the garment is as beautiful as the outside. I often design and execute one of a kind garments. I’m well versed in good fit and design challenges and strive to ensure that all deadlines are met. The design process is a collaboration between me and the client. Often they come with fabric that they have found during a business or vacation trip. We talk about their wishes for the fabric and take measurements. Usually there are 1–3 fittings, during which the design and fit is fine tuned.

I have made everything from dresses, suits, ball gowns, costumes, and wedding dresses, I’ve designed costumes for the Westernaires and David Copperfield. My alterations on existing garments are well done and fairly priced. I haven’t changed my alterations prices in 20 years because I want my services to be affordable for everyone. I’m mobile, often coming into Denver to meet with clients. Local people come to me at my home studio.

I have been sewing for over ten years and am currently getting my own design business going. I own a high–quality sewing machine and have years of experience designing and altering clothes for men, women and children. After some success with my Etsy shop, I am currently moving forward in the process of researching the most effective promotion and marketing techniques in the industry.

I have been designing clothes for over ten years and have been selling them on Etsy for about six months. I began designing for myself, wanting classic, stylish and comfortable clothes that flattered my figure and that were much "cooler" than those I saw in the corporate stores and boutiques (and, therefore, on many of those around me). I wanted unique clothes that I could wear for elegant dinners, around the house, hiking, going out on the town and going to festivals. When I started to realize that many of my friends wanted the same and they started making requests, Starletfire Designs was born. I enjoy being able to offer high–quality handmade clothing that is ethically created and sold (at a reasonable price), and it feels good to know that my clients have one–of–a–kind pieces that they cherish.

My goal in the next year is to transition into using all organic cotton and bamboo fabrics, yet still be able to offer them at reasonable prices. I believe these fabrics are the highest quality, most earth–friendly and ethically–traded fabrics on the planet. I hope my clients will feel the same way!

Please see my contact information and website in the signature below. And thank you for the opportunity to be listed in your directory. I hope to hear from you soon!

My name is Lauren Jones and I have been sewing since the age of 4. This skill has been passed down through the generations of women in my family and I am proud to bear that flag for my generation. I live in Boulder Colorado now – I used to work for Elfriede's Fine Fabrics, first as Grunt, then as Manager and finally as Wholesale Buyer – til it was once again time to turn life on its head. I applied to Fashion Design School in New York City at Parsons, the New School for Design. There I finished the program early and with Honors. I even got a job as a draping tutor for Parsons while I was a student. Now I am back in Colorado, pursuing the life I most wish to lead. I am trying to get involved with some green, up and coming companies because I honestly believe that is the face of a prosperous American future for everyone.

In the mean time, I am working on a wedding gown for the bride on the second page in the "Bridal Visions" photo tab, as well as trying to grow more business connections here in Boulder.

My technical training is in garment design, but I have a knack for oddball projects that involve fabric, and a sewing machine. If you are interested in my services, please get in touch

I have been sewing since age 6 and professionally for the last 15 years. About 70% of my business is creating interior design applications in fabric: drapes and curtains, slipcovers, pillows and bedding of all types. The rest of my work is for the person offering simple alterations and repairs to custom construction and tailoring services, also wedding work. I have a nice portfolio of my work and generally supply pictures of like projects with proposals or estimates, which I offer at no charge. I also offer specialized sub services like embroidery, upholstery and window treatment installation.

If needed, I can source fabrics, trimmings and other materials for my clients including commercial blinds and shades. COM accepted at no additional charge. Any materials or sub services I provide are at my cost plus a 15% commission for handling the orders/services.

Costumes and research projects are of great interest to me, I have extensive experience re–creating late western Victorian era pieces. Since I ride horses, I have all the show coat patterns and also make chaps and equestrian accessories like stall curtains and custom tote bags. I also do upholstered walls and suspended fabric ceilings.

My work is guaranteed and I offer timely service and personalized attention to my clients needs.

I got my first sewing machine when I was 3 years old and first learned draping on my Barbie dolls! I sewed much of my own wardrobe through high school for basically economic reasons. I studied engineering in college and worked as an engineer for 20 years. As my children were getting older, I decided I needed to be home with them more and turned my life–long skills into a business.

I work part time from my home studio. I design and create costumes for a local children's theater as well as another professional theater. I design, create, and alter wedding gowns and other special occassion attire.

Vintage redesign has become a passion. I have updated and rejuvenated grandma's wedding gown for more modern weddings, taken vintage finds to new heights and created whole new looks for several clients.

Projects have included (both altered and made from drawing): wedding gowns and wedding parties of both sexes, Irish step dance solo outfis (both sexes), Horsemanship show jackets and slacks, adult masquerade wear as well as children's Halloween costumes, special use home dec designs, special needs design and sewing, and art level embroidery. I also teach children's sewing and embellishment classes as Sew Fresh Studio in Niwot and The Art Underground in Louisville.
