I have over 28 years in custom–made clothing including weddings, evenings, curtains, quilts, professional alterations, tie dying, crocheting, clothing designing and professional dressmaker.

I work retail sales part time at a boutique in Santa Barbara.
I have been sewing beautiful things for ages for my own fashions and production, some theatre, ballet, and opera.

My sewing experience covers a variety of projects over many years – sewing for myself and others, alterations and special projects. Since moving to California I have done contract sewing (from Craig's List).

For a Sacramento company, I redesigned existing products, made samples and master patterns for manufacturing in China.

I helped set up an in–home business for a person who wanted to market medical scrubs. I tailored commercial patterns to make them unique, selected the fabric and cut and sewed the garments.

I worked for 7 months in 2007 for a start–up company in Concord that specializes in custom western clothing. My job was to design and apply the rhinestone embellishment for the leather collar and cuffs, as well as stone the garment body. I also did pattern drafting, sewed leather chaps, and various other projects, such as completing the sewing of a heavy canvas vendor booth that was constructed in velcro'd sections for easy assembly and take–down.

For the past several months in 2008, I have contracted with a San Rafael company sewing their clothing line.

I have a great in–home workshop with sewing machine, serger and work tables. I am located just off 680 in Concord.

Hello my name is Cristina Barreto and I am a Designer/Seamstress located in San Francisco. I have experience home sewing for 8 years and 6 months work experience as a seamstress for an up and coming clothing line partnered with Goodwill Industries. I graduated from the Art Institute of San Francisco in 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design. I can can work with home sewing and industrial machines and have extensive knowledge of apparel.

Bio/Skills: I have 15 years experience in theatrical sewing doing both
alterations and original builds, including tailoring. I can draft and alter
patterns. I can create home decor and pet items in addition to clothing. I
excel at children's clothing for play and special occasions.
