The BASICHOODBRAND was created by designer David Mayo in 2007 as a way to express the rugged urban side of life.The rugged design of the denim is an expression of lifes hardships in the struggle for survival in todays urban enviroments.

The zippered design represents the unbound rugged urban enviroment that plaques most lower class inner city and suburban
streets. By pairing this with 14oz heavy weight denim and various degrees of fading,whiskering,etc. our goal is to show the everyday struggle of life in the hood.

After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Apparel from the University of Minnesota (view profile). Amy Michielle had a dream to own a business that was completely centered on fashion. In 2003 she launched her company SoHo Exchange, Inc., where she is currently the Creative Director. In June 2004, in memory of Benella Jones, S.H.E. by SoHo Exchange, an apparel and accessories line made primarily from vinyl billboards was born.

Since its inception SoHo Exchange has been commissioned to do costume design for the films Strange As Angels (2005), Lost and Found Lottery (2006), For the Love of Pookie (2007), The Prodigal Son (in pre–production) and the web–series Abnormally Normal (2006).

During her 20–year career she has been the Lead Visual Designer for The Toggery, Inc., Sales/Marketing Manager for Room & Board and Co–Owner of Rolling Video, Inc.

Her inspiration comes from finding beauty in everything she sees whether it be a billboard or a pink diamond. She designs clothing for emerging entertainers, musicians and everyday celebrities like you, who want to sparkle when they walk in a room!

Currently, SoHo Exchange, Inc. offers Apparel Design, Costume Design and Wardrobe Styling and Management in the United States.

I've always showed strong interest in fashion, growing up I features in a local news magazine for 3 yrs in the kids section drawing and sketching different designs for the magazine from 3rd to 6th grade.

My designs are chic with the combination of my traditional heritage from Africa in connection with the western world.

I graduated from Minneapolis Community Technical College with knowledge in Fashion Design.

My first fashion runway was in a fashion show for full sized models. It showcased my ability to design for all size model with my believe that every woman no matter the size should be able to wear their heart desire.
