Formosa Fashion Week – Otoño Invierno 2012

Por segundo año consecutivo se proyecta una semana de la moda en Formosa, capital. Tomando el concepto de los más prestigiosos eventos internacionales FASHION WEEK, Ideas y Marketing lanza la edición otoño invierno 2012 de un evento que durará en principio dos días y que tendrá un contenido altamente rico para la moda de Formosa. El ingrediente principal del evento será la muestra de los diseñadores. El año pasado expusieron en pasarela 8 diseñadores (4 locales y 4 internacionales), 4 marcas nacionales y una marca internacional. Se realizaron 13 desfiles exclusivos y consecutivos.

The goal is to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Monica Oliver, a nominee and close friend who is running for Man/Woman of this year (2012)in conjuction with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society would like to bring awareness to the disease as well as raise money for the Organization. As you will read her oldest son Elijah was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2009. Monica has been activly involved in programs and support groups that assist with Elijahs' specific needs and the challenges she faces in caring for him. She has remained positive non the less greatful for any support, no matter how large or small. The final results are rewarding and fulfilling so please attend and enjoy the show.

Letter From Monica:

Hello! My name is Monica Oliver. I’m a candidate for the 2012 Man & Woman of the Year sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. It is definitely an honor to be nominated and I’m extremely excited and humbled at the same time. I’m very passionate about this organization because my son was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) a Blood Cancer on 11/17/09. Two days prior to the diagnoses, he was running and flipping at a birthday party and within 48 hours our lives completely changed. The disease does not run on either side of his family so when they gave me the news, the first words out of my mouth was“whats that?” I honestly didn’t know. So my goal is not only to raise money for the organization but MOST importantly bring awareness regarding what this disease is, how it affects so many lives around the world, including those in our very own community. I wouldn’t want any other parents to go through what I’ve been though but if they should, my purpose is to equip them with the knowledge beforehand. This will enable them to be more aware and educated on childhood cancers and on the various ways we can all help those affected beat the odds! HIFW promises a first of its kind production fashion week that makes fashion culture approachable and accessible to all without a price tag (no admission fee/ticket fee). HIFW expects at least 30 designers total to showcase. HIFW will not only exclusively showcase fashion but will celebrate the ethnicity and international cultures of the residents of Houston. Between fashion shows, guests will enjoy dance competition, International cooking competition, lectures, Job and Health Fair, Bridal and Quinceañera Expo, art exhibition, makeovers sessions, picnics and so much more.
